FAQS

Frequently asked questions

What should I wear?

The farm tour will be mainly outside, so we advise that you check the weather forecast prior to the tour to ensure you bring adequate and suitable clothing. We do recommend sunhats/suncream/waterproofs etc for extremes in weather.

Do I need to bring my own wellies?

Waders or wellies will be provided for use on the farm.

How long does the tour last?

Approximately 2 hours – Please arrive 15mins before the tour start time.

Is the farm tour child friendly?

Due to the nature of a working farm, we operate a 12+ policy. Children aged 12-16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Come by train

The easiest way to come to Whitstable, especially in the busy summer months, is by public transport. There are direct trains from London and elsewhere along Kent's Creative Coast including Ramsgate and Margate.

Come by bus

‘Triangle Route’ buses from Canterbury and Herne Bay go through Whitstable – please jump off at the ‘Horsebridge’ stop and head to the beach past Zizzi’s and our Whitstable Oyster restaurant. You should then see a small container just past the Sea wall – This is where you will meet your guide.

What are the accessibility requirements?

The tour will involve walking on uneven/soft ground of the oyster farm. Unfortunately this tour is not suitable for individuals with accessibility requirements.

Where can I park?

If you are driving, then the nearest car parks are Keams Yard and Harbour Car park, Gorrell Tank and East Quay but there are limited numbers in each. Parking in Whistable can be time consuming in the summer as we are quite a small Town with very limited parking so please do leave yourself enough time.
